On 11th March 1910 Friedrich Brockmann opened a saw mill and carpentry on the premises of today's Schlesselmann GmbH. Klaus Schlesselmann directed the company after World War II as a saw mill, furniture makers and carpentry before the carpenter Rolf Schlesselmann who is still active today oriented the company additionally towards the production of crates and pallets. Schlesselmann GmbH has developed from a manual firm active in the classical house builidng sector to an industrial company. Today, the business produces customized pallets for various industrial sectors.
The product range is completed by the production of special sizes from woods such as beach and oak for the pallet industry.
Hitscher & Sohn is looking back on an over 100 years old company tradition. Today, Thomas Hitscher (graduate engineer) is directing the company, which was founded in 1902, in the fourth generation. The company stays for flexibility, innovation, and costumer proximity and is specialized on solutions of packaging and transportation problems. The nowadays scope of services includes:
Hitscher has a total area of 28.500 m² at its disposal, thereof 13.750 m² indoor. Hitscher is holding an own vehicle fleet with five trucks, ground conveyors up to 30 tonnes, and crane equipment up to 20 tonnes load capacity.
Besides the parent company in Schwarzenbek, Hitscher is running two branches in Hamburg, and a subsidiary company in Hungary.

Our team of long standing and regularly trained staff carries out packaging on clients' premises if required or on our own heated premises in hangars fitted with lifting gear.
The associated joinery manufactures crates for high-tech aviation parts based on own measurements, calculations and provision of technical drawings. All this within very short delivery times.
Order processing and job preparations are assisted by our own LAN system.

HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder is recognized worldwide as state-of-the-art. With its high degree of automation and its compact layout, HHLA's newest terminal sets the scene for the future of container handling. The most advanced technology and innovative EDP system ensure efficient discharging and loading of large container ships, especially. The volume of standard containers handled annually has grown steeply since the terminal was taken into service in summer, 2002. By 2006, this had reached 2.1 million TEU.

Highly efficient container terminals ensure the Port of Hamburg's supreme importance as a logistics hub. In 2006, HHLA's three Hamburg Container terminals Altenwerder, Burchardkai and Tollerort for the first time handled more than 6 million standard containers (TEU). Technical innovations and automated working processes ensure high productivity and short laytimes. Specialized companies offer all box-related services, whether repair or storage of empty containers or handling of project and heavy cargo. HHLA also operates container terminals in Odessa and Lübeck.
